Branscome Paving Company was formed in 1988 by Julius Branscome, owner of Julius Branscome Incorporated who also has been a contractor in Nothern Virginia since 1962. It remains a family owned business to this day. The quality of our product is a result of hard work and our commitment to excellence. This has remained the same from the very first ton of asphalt we produced to our most recent one.

For more than twenty years we have served the Counties and municipalities with much success. We have earned several awards for work we have performed and have achieved a reputation for outstanding service and excellent quality.

We are active members of the Virginia Asphalt Association, Old Dominion Highway Contractors Association and The Heavy Construction Contractors Association. Participation in these associations keeps us current on issues of customer satisfaction, product improvements and issues that impact the communities we serve.

Excellence is the attribute we have striven for everyday since our beginning in 1988 and the one we continue to pursue. We will do all we can to provide you excellence of product, price and service.

Branscome Paving Company was built on a solid foundation of honesty, integrity and sound business practices which have sustained us for several decades. Likewise, a paved surface is only as good as the foundation on which it is placed. Therefore we employ stone placement crews and equipment to provide a solid base for our asphalt pavements. Being so vital to the integrity of the road structures we ensure that the base stone is laid to strict standards and tested for proper compaction prior to the placement of any asphalt.

Our stone crews have reputation for quality work and safe practices. It is their job to make sure that the paved surfaces we place are able to withstand the traffic which will travel across it. Whether the stone is to receive an asphalt pavement thickness of a major highway, or it is to be exposed shoulder stone to support the edge of pavement, Branscome Paving Company is confident that it will provide an excellent foundation for our asphalt concrete and for the traveling public.

Asphalt Paving

At Branscome Paving Company, paving is not just in our name, it is what we do. From designing the asphalt mixes to the final rolling, we can provide any asphalt paved surface required and all the aspects of paving associated with it.

Our Asphalt laboratory is certified by all major testing associations and is staffed with highly trained and experienced personnel. Branscome Paving Company’s Lab designs several dozen asphalt concrete mixes every year.   All asphalt produced by us is per VDOT specifications whether the asphalt is for a small residential driveway or for Interstate 95.

Our Asphalt Manufacturing Plant is also staffed by well trained and highly experienced people. Some of our management personnel have over four decades of service in the asphalt industry. The plant itself, a Standard Havens, is rated to produce 400 tons of asphalt per hour.

The capability to manufacture Asphalt is important but all those tons have to go somewhere. Ninety per cent of all the Asphalt we produce is hauled by Branscome Paving Company trucks and placed by Branscome Paving Company paving crews. Our trucks are all VDOT certified and driven by qualified, safety conscious operators who deliver our products responsibly and safely on a daily basis. Our Asphalt Paving crews are manned by people with several decades of experience in asphalt paving and have given our company a reputation for outstanding service and quality.

At Branscome Paving Company we pride ourselves on the ability to bring a paved surface from design to reality with our own resources. Paving is what we do and we do it all, from start to finish.

Branscome Paving Company is continuously searching for ways to lessen our impact on the environment. One of the most efficient ways to this goal is to recycle asphalt concrete. Asphalt concrete is 100% recyclable and one of the most recycled manmade products in the world. Re-using this product not only allows us to be more cost efficient but also curtails the need for virgin materials. This also reduces costs to our customers by providing the opportunity to merely maintain existing pavements as opposed to fully rebuilding them. Over time asphalt oxidizes and succumbs to the effects of weather and the environment. It is beneficial to remove the surface layer prior to the new asphalt overlays.

Branscome Paving Company owns and maintains several full size asphalt milling machines to mill up asphalt concrete pavement prior to new paving. This “milled” material is then hauled back to our asphalt manufacturing facility where it is processed into new asphalt concrete. These machines are staffed by well trained crew members, many of which have twenty or more years of experience in the asphalt paving industry.
